Dual Enrollment

Dual Enrollment gives high school students in public, private, charter schools the opportunity to take college courses from Steven J. Green School of International & Public Affairs in the fields of Economics, History, Criminal Justice, Modern Languages, Global Studies, Public Policy  and Administration, Politics and International Affairs,  and Religion. While in the program students earn college credits tuition free; student is exempt from the payment of registration, tuition, and laboratory fees. Plus, Dual Enrollment students receive university perks like a Panther ID, access to FIU Library, tutoring, student resources, and the chance to Experience FIU.

If you choose Full-Time/Dual Enrollment Early Admission, you can enroll in courses full time on campus beginning in your senior year. Students in this program enroll in 12-15 credits each semester and earn credits that apply toward high school graduation and a bachelor's degree.

Future admission to FIU as a degree-seeking student is selective and is not guaranteed via participation in the Dual Enrollment Program. Prospective students must apply to FIU and meet all FIU admissions requirements.

I am taking dual enrollment courses in order to save money and get ahead on college classes. These are a benefit for my education because they allow me to start getting used to the material that college courses challenge me with.

I had a pleasant experience with the FIU dual enrollment class POS 2041 American Government. This class has positively impacted my political knowledge. Additionally, I learned the different processes that go into the creation of laws and the implementation of these laws. I am taking this class to better my understanding of the world I live in.

I see these classes as a benefit to my education because they teach me at a more advanced pace, which I am comfortable with and can learn more in this way. For instance, in Dual Enrollment Spanish, I am able to improve my language skills with the curriculum that was planned for us and don’t have to stay behind other Spanish speakers.

Our Dual Enrollment instructors

Meet some of our Dual Enrollment instructors who teach our college courses at the high schools. Instructors engage in ongoing collegial interaction with Faculty Liaisons to further enhance pedagogy and breadth of knowledge in the discipline. Additionally, new instructors attend course-specific training in course philosophy, curriculum, pedagogy, and assessment prior to teaching the course at the high school.

Our Dual Enrollment mentors

Our Mentors or Faculty Liaisons ensure that dual enrollment courses taught at our partnering schools are college courses, equivalent to those taught on campus. Faculty Liaisons are tasked with providing guidance, feedback and learning resources to the Instructor as needed to enrich the high school students’ experience while enrolled in courses.
